GUANGZHOU - Marcello Lippi decided to conclude Guangzhou Evergrande's recent winless streak against teams from South Korea on Tuesday's meeting with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in the AFC Champions League.
Guangzhou edged out FC Seoul on away goals to claim the champions league trophy in 2013, but Lippi's side failed to achieve a single victory over a South Korean side in the AFC Champions League last year after drawing both games with Jeonbuk in the group stage.
After Guangzhou maintained their perfect start in Chinese super league with two home wins, Lippi is confident at his side to bounce back from last week's 1-1 draw with Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan.
"Our target is to win and we will try our best to make it. Jeonbuk is a strong opponent and we should be careful enough in tomorrow' s match," Lippi said.
The 65-year-old coach believed his side will score at least one more goal than their opponent if it is a must win match.
"Last season when we played Jeonbuk at home, it was our last group match and the result didn't matter, so we drew. But this time it is different," he said.
