BERLIN - Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has extended his contract ahead of schedule to stay with the German record champions until 2021, Bayern confirmed via the club's official homepage on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old Germany international, whose current contract was stipulated until 2019, put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension to wear the Bavarian jersey until June 2021.

"I feel very comfortable at Bayern and I am glad that we have sealed the deal," Manuel Neuer said after the extension. "We are still in three title races and we have a great opportunity to win a lot this year. Winning titles will be our main goal in the next weeks but also in the coming years."

Neuer joined Bayern Munich in June 2011 from league rivals Schalke and is widely rewarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He made overall 313 appearances to date to secure three Bundesliga titles, two German Cup and UEFA Champions Leagues titles. On top of that, he lifted the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil with Germany after overcoming Argentina 1-0 in overtime by courtesy of Mario Goezte's decider.

"He is the world's best custodians and we are absolutely satisfied with his performances. Manuel is a top performer between the posts and we are delighted that he has decided to stay at Bayern. We have now extended with all our key players on a long-term. Our supporters do not have to worry about our future," Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said.

Manuel Neuer is after Jerome Boateng, Thomas Mueller, David Alaba and Javi Martinez the fifth player who extended his contract until summer 2021.
