Chinoise Story Spring Festvie Specialty Dishes

Elegant, understated class is how I would describe the décor and atmosphere of the Chinoise story. Perfectly situated, nestled in the main hub of the French concession area this hidden gem offers a true taste of Shanghai mixed with a lively & exciting fusion of other asian influences and flavours. The enchanting dark wood and gold elegant interior design matches the fine dining quality of the chef’s exquisitely prepared dishes. The extensive menu choices make it a perfect venue for a romantic dinner, while the lunch deals also make it a popular venue for a formal business lunch.

The choice of options range from traditional Shanghainese fair such as the famous local xiaolongbao to Malaysian Bakuteh to Singaporean Laksa. It even includes the now extremely popular local take on french foie gras creations and even vegetarians are specifically catered for. But right now there has never been a more intriguing time to stop by and try the chefs diverse culinary skills as they are serving spring festival specials so unique that are hard to find across the city.

Chinoise Story Spring Festvie Specialty Dishes

On my recent visit I was introduced to their ‘Singaporean style’ new year’s dish which is absolutely not to be missed! Beautifully presented in a colourful array of ingredients, this fresh salad type of dish incorporating vegetables, herbs, nuts, crispy noodles, fruit & fine smoked salmon is a feast for the taste senses too. The sweet yet sour seasoning & sauce truly tantilises the taste buds and the range of ingredients are all individually chosen for their meaning of good luck and good fortune for the new year. I then had a wonderful winter warmer dish to follow known as the new year ‘treasure pot’ containing a treasure trove of Chinese favourite fodder from abalone, sea cucumber, yams, bamboo, goose claw & scallops.

Served in a large claypot, all the ingredients are stewed in a thick rich abalone reduction sauce that’s so filling it’s enough for two to share, and is the perfect warming winter meal. These exclusive new year dishes will only be served until the end of the spring festival period, so get in there quick while you can…xin nian kuaile!
