China's first youth travel forum was held at the Beijing International Studies University on May 23-24.
The forum was jointly sponsored by the university, China Society of Natural Resources and China Youth Daily.
It carried the theme of growth and innovation in tourism and attracted 300 tourism specialists from China and abroad.
The event set up a dialogue for young scholars to discuss China's "One Road, One Belt" tourism development strategy. In the interim, seven sub-forums were held to focus on topics such as tourism economic growth and leisure economy, tourism geography and planning, ecotourism and national park, heritage and culture tourism, as well as hotel management and pension service. More than 90 scholars shared their research results.
Cao Weidong, president of the university, pointed out that China's tourism industry faces many new challenges and the forum aims to build a platform for young tourism scholars and boost studies of China's tourism.
Theme reports on the young scholar development, outstanding problems in tourism development, national park construction and tourism finance innovation received positive feedback from participants.
Feng Pei, Party secretary with the university, said the new generation of young scholars is tasked with new research missions and responsibilities as tourism activities diversify.
Feng said the university will be committed to tourism discipline development and help young scholars grow to ensure healthy development of tourism in China.
