NEW YORK - A woman who accused two New York City police officers of rape says she's "devastated and disappointed" they were convicted only of a misdemeanor for official misconduct. But she says public opinion "will be the ultimate verdict."

The 29-year-old woman's lawyers released her statement Tuesday.

Now-fired Officers Kenneth Moreno and Franklin Mata were acquitted Thursday of rape and most other charges. Their lawyers say the jury's decision should be respected.

Mata and Moreno were called to help the woman get home after a drunken night out. She says she passed out and awoke to being raped. Moreno says he cuddled with her, but they didn't have sex. Mata was accused of standing watch but says he was napping on her sofa.
