Our planet is suffering an ever-increasingly serious climate change problem. From the north to the south spheres of the earth, extreme weather is increasing. We face big challenge through abusing traditional energy such as fossil fuels and oil. Carbon dioxide emissions have accumulated to such a volume that damage to the planet is inevitable.

With the warning of climate change, countries around the world agreed that new and renewable energy should play a major part in finding the solution to the problem of how to create a sustainable earth.

China Daily reporter Huang Shuo interviewed Dr. Richard Pike, chief executive of the Royal Society of Chemistry, on new energy and renewable energy issues concerning climate change.
