11-year-old shoots classmate in northern India

LUCKNOW - Police say an 11-year-old boy in northern India has shot and critically injured a classmate who bullied him.
Police superintendent Navnit Rana says the fourth-grade boy smuggled his father's pistol into school in Barabanki town in Uttar Pradesh state and confronted his classmate before shooting him in the head.
The boy was detained and sent to a juvenile home.
Police said Thursday the boy had been bullied and sometimes beaten by the victim.
School shootings are rare in India and the incident was front-page news in local newspapers.
