Syrian refugees in S Turkey reach 10,553

ANKARA - The number of Syrian refugees, who escaped from the violence in their country and took shelter in Turkey, reached 10,553, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported on Sunday.

There are 2,583 men, 2,639 women and 5,331 children who took shelter in Turkey, and they are staying in four temporary tent-sites set up by Turkish Red Crescent in Altinozu and Yayladag towns of Turkey's southern province of Hatay, according to the report.

Thirty-eight of the Syrians, who were wounded, were taken to hospitals in Hatay for medical treatment, said the report.
