Ferry crashes into pier in NYC, 57 injured

NEW YORK - A total 57 people were injured when a ferry boat crashed into a pier in lower Manhattan, New York City, Wednesday morning.
Among the injured, two incurred critically injuries on the head and were sent to a Manhattan hospital. Those with lighter injuries were taken to hospitals in Brooklyn.
Sources told Xinhua that the ferry left Highlands, New Jersey at 8:00 am and was due to reach Pier 11 at Manhattan at 8:45 am. The crash took place at 8:45 am. Rescue teams which were operating nearby arrived to the scene in just over three minutes.
The cause of the crash is not immediately known.
