HOUSTON - Dogs mauled one person to death and injured two others, including one critically, in the American city of Houston Sunday, local media reported.
The victims, two women and a man, were attacked early Sunday by two pit bulls in southeast Houston, the website of the Houston Chronicle reported.
One woman died at the scene, while the other was seriously injured and transported to a hospital in the area. The male victim suffered slight injuries and was treated at the scene.
Police said Houston Animal Control caught one dog immediately after the attack, but the other one was still at large. A man identified by witnesses as the dogs' owner was missing, according to the police.
Dog attacks killed 32 people in the United States in 2013. Pit bulls or pit bull mixes were blamed for 25 of those deaths, according to DogsBite.org, a US dog-bite victim group dedicated to raising awareness of the public health and safety issue.
