BEIJING - Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said Monday the international community should stick to the direction of economic globalization and maintain the post-war international order.

"Economic globalization, multi-polarization and democratization of international relations have created the necessary conditions for the peaceful development of mankind. The international community should stick to this direction," Li said.

The international community should uphold the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and maintain the post-war international order, he added.

Li made the remarks when meeting UN secretary-general designate Antonio Guterres, who is on a visit to China from Monday to Tuesday.

"The world political and economic landscape is undergoing profound changes with mounting uncertainties for economic recovery amid a rising mood of anti-globalization, isolationism and populism," Li said.

"Only by exercising the common wisdom of mankind can we create a better future."

Li lauded the UN as a core post-war multilateral platform, playing an irreplaceable role in maintaining world peace and stability.

Li stressed China will continue to support the work of the UN, preserve its international authority, and back the UN to enhance its capacity to cope with global challenges.

As the largest developing country and a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China will work with all parties for world peace, stability, inclusiveness and sustainable development, Li added.
