BEIJING - A senior Chinese official Monday promised favorable policies to support cooperation with Kazakhstan.

Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli made the remarks when co-chairing the China-Kazakhstan Cooperation Committee with Kazakhstan First Deputy Prime Minister Askar Mamin in Beijing.

Facilitated by President Xi Jinping and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries has been elevated to a new high, said Zhang.

China and Kazakhstan are mutual significant economic partners, Zhang said, adding both sides should implement consensus reached by both countries' leaders through deepening cooperation on capacity, energy, agriculture, connectivity and tourism.

Zhang also called for closer cooperation among small- and medium-sized companies and more exchanges in border areas.

Mamin said Kazakhstan sees China as a priority in its foreign policy and is willing to boost policy alignment and deepen cooperation in various areas for mutual benefits and common development.

The two sides also reviewed the recent work accomplished by the China-Kazakhstan Cooperation Committee.

The committee, established in 2004, oversees bilateral cooperation ranging from trade, transport, to science and technology.
