Cui Tiankai, China's ambassador to the US, said that trade and investment between China and the US is driven by the market and leads to better allocation of resources, profits for businesses and benefits for consumers.

There could be a deficit or surplus at any given time, but it is not about who wins or who loses. In the long run, everyone will win from a burgeoning economy.

With growing trade and deepening interdependence, some disagreements and disputes are inevitable, and the two sides must sit down and discuss in a sensible way.

It is exactly for that purpose that China and the US will hold the first round of Comprehensive Economic Dialogue next week in Washington.

"We are looking forward to the mutually-beneficial outcomes of this dialogue," Cui said.

He made his remarks on Thursday at the China General Chamber of Commerce Welcome Luncheon Forum held in Providence, Rhode Island, during the National Governors Association summer meeting.
