The series, also known as Outlaws of the Marsh, is about the rebellious life of Song Jiang in the Song Dynasty (960-1279), when he presided over other rebels in the Liangshan Mountain area in what is now Shandong province. The outlaws surrendered to the imperial court of the Song Dynasty.
