The World of Hwang Young-sung
Date: Oct 24-Nov 7
Venue: Shanghai Himalayas Museum
Price: 30-400 yuan
The exhibition will feature Chinese poetry, one of Hwang Young-sung's latest series, together with a selection of works he has been working on since 2000. Upon first sight, these works may strike viewers as vivid and brisk color blocks. But if you take a closer look, you realize that the color blocks are in fact composed of Chinese characters, and to be more specific, classic Chinese poems. Though they seem a bit haphazard, their disorder is neither messy nor coarse. In other words, a peculiar kind of chaotic order could be perceived from within.
