The Tempest by TNT Theater Britain
Date: April 23 - 7:30 pm
Venue: Kunming Theater
Price: 80-380 yuan
The Tempest is a play by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written in 1610-11, and thought by many critics to be the last play that Shakespeare wrote alone. It is set on a remote island, where the sorcerer Prospero, rightful Duke of Milan, plots to restore his daughter Miranda to her rightful place using illusion and skilful manipulation. He conjures up a storm, the eponymous tempest, to lure his usurping brother Antonio and the complicit King Alonso of Naples to the island. There, his machinations bring about the revelation of Antonio's lowly nature, the redemption of the King, and the marriage of Miranda to Alonso's son, Ferdinand. TNT Theatre was founded in 1980 in Britain and since then has established itself as one of the most popular international touring theatre companies in the world. Last season alone the company produced seven productions in almost thirty countries worldwide.

A Midsummer Night's Dream By Ballet du Grand Theatre de Geneve
Date: April 23 - 7:30 pm
Venue: Shanghai Grand Theater
Price: 180-880 yuan
Le songe d'une nuit d'ete (A Midsummer Night's Dream) is an opera-comic in three acts composed by Ambroise Thomas to a French libretto by Joseph-Bernard Rosier (1804-1880) and Adolphe de Leuven. Although it shares the French title for Shakespeare's play, A Midsummer Night's Dream, its plot is not based on the play. Shakespeare himself is a character in the opera as are Elizabeth I and Falstaff.
