Melissa Aldana is a Chilean tenor saxophone player, who performs both as a soloist and with her band Melissa Aldana & Crash TrioRising tenor saxophone star releases her second trio album (and fourth as a leader), unveiling powerful music by herself and her illustrious bandmates. Aldana follows up her 2014 Concord release Melissa Aldana & Crash Trio with the explorative and deeply swinging Back Home, this time released on the Wommusic label. Pablo Menares, Aldana's fellow native of Santiago, Chile, is again on bass. On drums is the in - demand JochenRueckert, bringing a supple and unpredictable rhythmic elan to the session. These three musicians turn on a dime and project an uncommonly full orchestral sound, rich in spiritual intensity.

Beijing's "hottest indie rock band" The Paper Tigers kick off their national tour at venerable local venue Jianghu Bar. The band - fresh off the release of their music video for "Hutong Hipster", which has been streamed 8,000 times on QQ Video - will unveil their self-recorded, self-released and self-titled debut EP in a celebratory concert that also features The Harridans (in their first performance after a prolonged hiatus) and Joker's Belief (who will perform a special acoustic set).
