From director Xu Tong comes the documentary Chung Hwa HB, which looks at the artist Li Di's creative process. The film comes from the artist's 800 Chung Hwa HB pencils, and explores how the artist consumes materials while trying to explore their inner spirit.

Beijing Express in Yugongyishan

Express is a showcase series that features some of the best acclaimed Indie-rock bands from China. This time the Express is arriving in Shanghai and Beijing for the first time. HazeSounds together with Shengjian Records elaborately picked 4 bands from different cities: Soft (Shanghai), Schoolgirl Byebye (Nanjing), The White Tulips (Xiamen). The Shanghai based shoegaze band Soft finalized its 3-piece lineup in the autumn of 2016, indulging themselves in shoegaze and noise-pop. The name comes from the classic album of the 4AD experimental guitar legend Swallow. They've been active in the music scene in Shanghai, Hangzhou, Xiamen and Guangzhou in 2017 via the Express series, and is seen "the personal favorite Shanghai band" of quite a few local music editors and critic writers.

Classic Movie Tuesday: Spellbound (1945)

In the heat of a Beijing Summer, we explore what is lurking in the shadows, as Alfred Hitchcock-one of the greatest film writers and directors of all time-takes us on another journey into the darkness of film noir. Join us on Tuesday 4 July at 7.30pm, for 'Spellbound' (1945), starring Ingrid Bergman, Gregory Peck and Michael Chekhov. A psychiatrist protects the identity of an amnesia patient accused of murder while attempting to recover his memory.
