15 people wounded in roadside bomb explosion in Baghdad (Xinhua) Updated: 2006-05-21 16:34
BAGHDAD, May 21 -- Fifteen people were wounded when a roadside bomb went off
in a busy market in southeast of Baghdad on Sunday, an Interior Ministry source
told Xinhua.
"Fifteen people were wounded when a homemade bomb detonated while our experts
were defusing another bomb in an open market near the Samarai mosque in Baghdad
al-Jadida neighborhood," the source said on condition of anonymity.
Many kiosks and shops were damaged in the blast, the source added.
Violence mounted in the war-torn country after three years of the U.S.-led
invasion in March 2003, despite the formation of a new government on Saturday.
