Sharon Stone to co-host Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo

OSLO, Norway (AP) _ Hollywood film star Sharon Stone will co-host this year's Nobel Peace Prize Concert in the Norwegian capital, the prize committee's secretary confirmed Thursday.

The annual concert in honor of the Nobel peace prize winner _ being announced in Oslo on Friday _ draws world names in music and film as performers and is broadcast to about 100 countries.

Geir Lundestad, the nonvoting secretary of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, confirmed that the 48-year American actress will co-host the show. Concert organizers have yet to announce the name of the second host, or those performing this year.

"It's good news," said Lundestad of Stone's agreeing to host the concert. "Sharon Stone is a well-known name, and has involved herself in various humanitarian projects."

The Golden Globe-winning actress, possibly best know for her role in the 1992 film "Basic Instinct," and her sister, Kelly, founded Planet Hope, an organization that provides medical care and counseling to homeless and abused children and their families.

Last year's concert was hosted by Hollywood stars Salma Hayek and Julianne Moore.

The concerts are always held on December 11, the day after the year's Nobel peace prize awards ceremony in Oslo.
