A Mandan police mobile team in Pakistan's northwestern city of Bannu was on routine duty when their vehicle was attacked by some unidentified gunmen.

The gunmen opened indiscriminate fires at the police with sophisticated automatic weapons, killing an Assistant Sub- Inspector and injuring three constables, according to APP reports.

The injured were transferred to a local hospital.

The motive of the attack is not immediately available.
