2008 APEC Leaders Meeting to be held in Peru(Xinhua)
Updated: 2007-09-09 14:00 SYDNEY -- Australian Prime Minister John Howard, chairman of the 15th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation ( APEC) Leaders Meeting, said in Sunday the 16th APEC Leaders Meeting will be held in Peru next year. Singapore, Japan, the United Sates and Russia will host the following annual APEC meetings, Howard announced at a closing ceremony of the APEC Leaders Meeting. The 2007 APEC Leaders Week started on September 2 in Australian city Sydney with a series of meetings, including Senior Officials Meeting, Ministerial Meeting and Leaders Meeting of APEC. An APEC Business Advisory Council Meeting and an APEC Business Summit were also held during the week. APEC has 21 members: Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, China's Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the United States and Vietnam. The chairmanship rotates among its members. |
