Musharraf to decide on uniform after verdict(Xinhua)
Updated: 2007-10-28 11:07 ISLAMABAD - President Pervez Musharraf would decide on doffing his uniform after the Supreme Court verdict, said a Pakistani official Saturday. Federal Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad hoped that the top court bench would give its decision about the presidential election next week which would improve the political situation in the country. He told reporters that lawyers and opposition should give up the policy of confrontation and respect the courts' decision as the government always accepted the court verdicts. Rashid said that the PML (Q) elected General Pervez Musharraf as President and supported him on every occasion, adding that the deal between Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairperson Benazir Bhutto and the president would be affected if she did not stop criticism on the ruling party leaders. He urged Bhutto to trust Pakistan's agencies not foreign security agencies. He said that they all should work for improving the law and order situation as the upcoming elections would be affected if the situation was not improved and suicide attacks were not prevented. Rashid said that the government was also in contact with opposition parties and leaders. He said that the people would decide on the next prime minister and claimed that they would "do a clean seep" in the upcoming elections based on the government's performance for the last five years.
