ISLAMABAD - Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf embarked on a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday to talk with Saudi leaders on bilateral matters, official said.

Musharraf will discuss with Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz the bilateral relations between the Kingdom and Pakistan and a number of regional and international issues.

Local media reported that the Saudi government was trying for reconciliation between Musharraf and the exiled former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, currently in Saudi Arabia. Sources said that no direct meeting was planned between Musharraf and Sharif but indirect contacts could not be ruled out.

This is Musharraf's first foreign visit after he proclaimed emergency in the country on November 3.

Sharif, also leader of the opposition Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz, was deported to Saudi Arabia on his return from seven-year exile on September 10.
