KAMPALA -- Uganda has condemned the assassination of Pakistani opposition leader Benazir Bhutto, the state-owned New Vision reported Friday.

"It is very deplorable and very pathetic. The murder of Bhutto and other people shows that terrorism must continue to be fought relentlessly and without compromise," state minister for regional cooperation Isaac Musumba was quoted as saying.

Bhutto was killed Thursday in a gun and bomb attack as she left an election rally in the city of Rawalpindi, the twin city of Pakistan's capital Islamabad, putting the Parliamentary polls on January 8, 2008 in doubt and sparking anger in her native province.
