Colombia hands over rebel documents to Venezuela(Xinhua)
Updated: 2008-04-01 09:27 BOGOTA - Colombia has turned over some documents to Venezuela that it says show links between the Venezuelan government and Colombia's largest rebel group, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), Colombia's Foreign Minister Fernando Araujo said Monday.
"In fulfillment of international commitments, Colombia has handed over the texts found on Raul Reyes' computer that had to do with Venezuela," he said. Colombian government forces killed Edgar Devia, better known by his alias Raul Reyes, FARC's No. 2 leader, and 25 other rebels in a March 1 raid on a FARC base in Ecuador, which caused a spar between the two countries. On Monday, Araujo said that Colombia hopes to maintain good relations with its neighbors. "We will insist on cooperation between nations so that the citizens on our borders are not put at risk," he said. |
