"Three suicide bombers raided a police checkpoint in Argon district this morning but police reacted rapidly gunning down three on the spot," Afghan told Xinhua.

He also said that one police constable was killed in the firefight lasted for one hour.

Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid in talks with media via telephone from unknown location said that over a dozen police were killed in the attack.

However, Mukhlis asserted that only one police was killed and the situation is under control.

Taliban have intensified their attacks. On Tuesday they carried out suicide attacks in Kabul, killing 18 people including six foreing soldiers and on Wednesday they targeted US main military base in Bagram airfield 50 km north of the capital Kabul, killing one and injuring nine service members.
