Rockets hit northern Afghan city

KUNDUZ, Afghanistan - Two rockets fired by militants hit Kunduz city, capital of Kunduz province in north Afghanistan Tuesday morning, police said.

"Taliban rebels fired two rockets this morning on Zakhil area in the provincial capital Kunduz city injuring two civilians," deputy to provincial police chief Abdul Rahman Haqtash told Xinhua.

He did not provide more details.

It is the first time that Kunduz city came under rocket attack.

Parts of Kunduz province particularly Chardara district has seen growing attacks by Taliban militants over the past year in the relatively peaceful northern region.
