The news service quoted police as reporting 167 people have " varied degrees of injuries" from the train collision which took place early Friday after a derailed passenger train was hit by a goods train in West Bengal, allegedly due to sabotage by extreme left-wing Naxal rebels.

Police said the toll is likely to cross 110 as more bodies are expected to be found in the smashed coaches.
