China opposes unilateral sanctions against Iran

BEIJING--China on Thursday expressed its opposition to unilateral sanctions against Iran.

"We hope relevant parties can stick to diplomatic efforts and seek an effective resolution through dialogue and negotiations," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jiang Yu told a regular press briefing.

The Republic of Korea unveiled unilateral sanctions on Iran on September 8 for its contentious nuclear program suspected to be a cover for developing nuclear weapons. Previously, the U.S., EU and Japan announced separate sanctions against the Middle East country.
