MEXICO CITY - The governments of Mexico, South Africa and Denmark have agreed to form a three-nation negotiation team on environmental matters, the Mexican Foreign Ministry said Friday.

The troika was formed to "seek continuity and strengthen current negotiations on climate change and to boost leadership," the ministry said in a statement.
"During COP 16 (November conference), a constructive boost can be achieved and last beyond the summit," the statement said.
"The troika realizes that fast initial financing is essential in building trust, while transparency in the contributions made by each party is essential," it added.
Participants in last year's UN conference agreed on a $10-billion fund for less developed countries to help them reduce emissions.
