KABUL, Afghanistan- Afghan and NATO-led forces have captured a Taliban facilitator along with several suspected insurgents during a joint security operation in Taliban birthplace Kandahar province of southern Afghanistan on Tuesday, the military alliance said Wednesday.
The targeted individual is intelligence operative responsible for providing direction in the form of site selection and target sets for the suicide bombers who reportedly came into Kandahar city from Chaman city of Pakistan, it said.
"The combined forces continue efforts to deny sanctuary to terrorists as they successfully conducted the operation, targeting the facilitator who operates out of Kandahar city," the statement further said.
With identifying the militants, the statement said the facilitator additionally provides support to Taliban operations including recruitment and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) facilitation.
