Mubarak inaugurated the new cabinet on Monday afternoon with Defense Minister Marshal Hussein Tantawi and Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit keeping their posts, while some protesters said they did not want to see old faces in the new cabinet.

On Monday night, thousands of protesters defied the curfew in Cairo, extended from 3 pm (1300 GMT) to 8 am (0600 GMT), chanting slogans against President Mubarak.

Egypt's anti-government Protesters called on Monday for a general strike and a one-million-man march towards the presidential palace on Tuesday to mark the one week since the protests started on January 25.
