PARIS - French President Nicolas Sarkozy Wednesday reaffirmed his country's reservations on possible military intervention in Libya, describing it as inappropriate.

"Of course we remain attentive to the decisions to be taken by the Security Council," he said.
When asked about his decision to dispatch French helicopter carrier Mistral to Libya coast, Sarkozy described it as an "humanitarian operation" to "evacuate foreign nationals found in Libya, whose origin countries could not afford to do" the evacuation.
Previously, French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe had said on Monday that military action in Libya would be "unproductive extremeness."
