Around 30 killed and injured in Afghan suicide attack

KABUL - Around 30 people were killed and wounded in a suicide attack which targeted Afghanistan's main military hospital in the capital city of Kabul on Saturday, an official with the hospital said.

"A suicide bomber blew himself up inside the Emergency Ward of 400-bed Mohammad Daud Hospital in Wazir Akbar Khan district at noon time, leaving around 30 people dead and injured," the official told Xinhua but declined to be identified, saying authorized officials would brief media on the incident after completion of investigation.

The official also believed that another suicide bomber is still hiding inside the hospital.

Spokesman for Defense Ministry General Mohammad Zahir Azimi confirmed it was a blast and said investigation is continuing.

The Defense Ministry in a statement released admitted that "a blast inside military hospital caused loss of life and property damage."

Meantime, a police spokesman Hashmat Ztanikzai told Xinhua said that investigation is underway to determine the reason for the blast.
