Volcanic ash cloud to spread to Berlin, Poland

BRUSSELS - Ash from an Icelandic volcano will affect Berlin from 0900 GMT and could also have an impact on flights over parts of Poland, European air traffic agency Eurocontrol said on Wednesday.

The agency said there was currently no air traffic into or out of Bremen and Hamburg airports, which on a normal day would handle 120 and 480 flights respectively.

Eurocontrol said it did not expect airports in Germany south of Bremen to be affected by the volcanic dust and there were no flight restrictions in any other parts of Europe.
