1 Chinese killed in Philippine gold mine blast

DAVAO CITY, Philippines - Two people, including a Chinese national, were killed during an accident inside a gold mine in southern Philippines, police said Tuesday.

The disaster happened inside a small-scale mining shaft in Del Pilar village in Agusan del Norte province late Saturday, according to Chief Superintendent Reynaldo Rafal, police chief for Caraga region where Agusan del Norte belongs.

Jee Ling, the Chinese national, and Filipino worker Loredo Calubong were working inside the tunnel when sticks of lighted dynamite they were about to set off prematurely went off, killing them instantly.
