CAIRO - Former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak has left a Sharm el-Sheikh hospital and is en route to Cairo for trial due on Wednesday, state TV reported.

Mubarak, 83, will stand trial with his two sons, Alaa and Gamal, ex-interior minister Habib Adli and six police officers in the Police Academy in Cairo. A businessman will also be tried in absentia.

The opening session will be short and procedural, state TV said.

Mubarak faces charges of corruption and murder in the anti-government protests in January, which led to ouster of the veteran leader.
