ABUJA - The United Nations (UN) says it has recorded one more death resulting from the bomb attack on the UN House in Abuja, Nigeria's capital city, on August 26.

The death toll from the blast now stands at 25, of whom 13 were UN staff members and 12 non-staff members.

A statement from the UN Country Team in Nigeria said Fred Willis, a staff member of UNICEF, died in South Africa on December 23.

Willis was one of the critically injured UN staff on life support system, who were evacuated to South Africa on air ambulances in August.

UN Resident Coordinator in Nigeria Daouda Toure described Willis as a dedicated staff, who contributed immensely to building the capacity of staff and national institutions in vaccine security and logistics.

Toure said the sacrifice of those who lost their lives in the blast would not be in vain.
