NEW DELHI - India Friday successfully test- fired home-made, nuclear-capable and surface-to-surface Agni I ballistic missile from a military base at Wheeler Island off the coast of the eastern state of Odisha, sources said.
"The test-firing of the missile, with a strike range of 700 kms, took place at 10:10 a.m. (local time). The test-firing has been successful and the missile has achieved its target. The test- firing took place from the Integrated Test Range at Wheeler Island," they said.
The missile, developed by state-owned Defence Research and Development Organization, was test-fired as part of the user trial by the Indian Army.
