CAIRO - Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi will attend the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit to be held in the Iranian capital Tehran later this month, official MENA news agency reported on Saturday.

The report said Morsi will participate in the summit on his way back from China.

In the upcoming summit, Egypt will hand over the Movement's rotating chairmanship to Iran. Participants of the summit are expected to discuss a number of political and economic issues, as well as the latest regional and international developments.

In a visit to Cairo earlier this month, Iranian Vice President Hamed Baqai delivered an invitation of the summit to President Morsi, hoping Morsi would participate in the event on August 30-31.

Egypt and Iran do not have full diplomatic relations since Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution, when Iran cut ties after Egypt gave asylum to the deposed Iranian shah in Cairo and made peace with Israel.
