6.9-magnitude quake hits Alaska islands

NEW YORK - An earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale jolted Andreanof Islands, Aleutian Islands, Alaska at 23:39:56 GMT Wednesday (2012-09-27 07:39:56 Beijing Time) , the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 35.00 km, was initially determined to be at 51.2450 degrees north latitude and 178.2450 degrees west longitude.
