BUCHAREST - People of Europe in times of crisis need a reasonable European budget to create jobs and stimulate economic growth, visiting European Parliament President Martin Schulz told Romanian lawmakers on Wednesday.
"We are fighting for a reasonable EU budget, allowing increasing investments and job creation," Schulz said.
"... Especially in crisis moments the people in Europe need an European budget, which should turn into a vehicle for job creation and growth. Any euro invested brings forth other two, three, four euros," he said.
"We insist on investing in the European solidarity, in growth and jobs, in innovation and research. This budget represents an instrument for a secure future of our citizens and we need your support," Schulz said.
Schulz paid an official visit to Romania on Tuesday and Wednesday, during which he met with Romanian officials and delivered a speech at the Romanian Parliament.
