HOUSTON - A high school in the US state of Texas was evacuated Monday after a threatening message was found on campus, local media reported.
The message was discovered in a restroom at Beckendorff Junior High school at the Texas city of Katy, local TV channel quoted Katy Independent School District as reporting.
The school district did not give specifics on the threat, according to the report.
Students were evacuated to a practice field adjacent to a parking lot as a precaution.
After the building was determined to be safe by Katy ISD police, the students returned to class with an amended schedule, the report said.
Earlier this month, evacuation was ordered at two Texas universities out of safety concerns.
A bomb threat emailed to Texas A&M University on Oct 19 prompted an evacuation of the campus as law enforcement officials conducted a building by building search. Dereon Tayronne Kelly, 22, was arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat in that case.
A day before the threat at Texas A&M University, another similar threat forced the evacuation of at least three buildings on Texas State University's campus. Brittany Nichole Henderson, 19, was arrested without bond charged with making a terroristic threat and misdemeanor of making a false alarm.
Last month, telephoned bomb threats at the University of Texas at Austin, as well as similar threats made to campuses in North Dakota and Ohio prompted evacuations. No bombs were found at any of those campuses.
