HOUSTON - An elementary and a middle school in the US city of Houston were placed on lockdown Friday after gunshots were heard in nearby areas, local media reported.
The shooting happened Friday in the area around Dogan Elementary and Fleming Middle schools in northeast Houston, according to local TV channel ABC13.
An eyewitness was quoted as saying he saw two groups shooting at each other just hours after another shooting nearby.
The eyewitness said the situation started because of an argument between a group of men and a homeowner that happened on Thursday night. The argument sparked back up on Friday and the homeowner fired shots at the men, who were in a SUV.
Weapons were recovered at the scene, and no one was reported hit, police said.
