India test-fires nuke capable Prithvi II missile

NEW DELHI - India Monday successfully test- fired its home-made, nuclear capable, surface-to-surface Prithvi II missile from the integrated test range at Chandipur in the eastern state of Odisha, sources said.

"The test-firing was successful. All the requirements were met by the missile which was test-fired as part of user trials by the defense forces," the sources said.

The missile, developed by state-owned Defense Research and Development Organization, has a strike range of 350 km with a payload of up to 1,000 kg.

The missile, already inducted into the Indian Army, is part of this country's prestigious Integrated Guided Missile Development Program.
