2 missiles toward Mediterranean coast fall into sea
DAMASCUS - A Syrian pro-government radio said Tuesday that two ballistic missiles that were launched from the Mediterranean toward its eastern coast fell into the sea.
It came minutes after Russia's Defense Ministry reportedly said that its radars have detected that two ballistic missiles were fired from the heart of the Mediterranean toward the eastern coast.
The aim of the missiles or the reason behind their firing are still murky, but initial speculations indicate that the missiles are believed to have been fired from U.S. destroyers stationed near the Syrian water as Washington was threatening a military action against Syria.
Meanwhile, the Russian Embassy in Damascus said it had no information about the missiles, adding that there was no indication of any missile attack or explosions in Damascus.
