Lavrov denies Russian troops' invasion into Ukraine

MOSCOW - Reports on Russian troops invading Ukraine's eastern regions are false, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Friday.

"There are no facts to support the claims about invasion (to Ukraine)," Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters after talks with visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif.

"There were earlier reports about the satellite images showing Russian troops movement. As it turned out, these were snaps of computer games. The latest accusations are of that kind," the Interfax news agency quoted Lavrov as saying.

Russia will continue to pursue a consistent policy aimed at securing an end to the bloodshed in Ukraine's southeastern regions, as well as helping launch a real national dialogue and hold negotiations involving all political parties and regions of Ukraine, Lavrov said.

Lavrov said that Moscow and Kiev are in contact for details on another Russian humanitarian convoy to be sent in the coming days.

"We have sent a second note to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry with Kiev's proposals taking into account," the minister said. "In our view, we have a common understanding on the way of ensuring security of the second convoy to southeastern Ukraine and the cargo delivery."
