PYONGYANG - The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Thursday extradited a resident of the Republic of Korea (ROK)who allegedly entered the DPRK territory illegally via a third country, the official news agency KCNA reported.

The ROK resident, Kim Sang Gun, who was living in the city of Ansong in Kyonggi Province, a province located next to Seoul, had admitted his illegal action, according to the KCNA.

The state media last Friday reported that Kim left ROK for "a third country" without specifying the country's name, and then headed for the DPRK "for no reason."

Kim also requested the DPRK to bring here his family in ROK to live together with him, said the KCNA, adding relevant departments had persuaded him back to the South.

Also last Friday, the DPRK's central committee of the Red Cross Society sent a notice to the ROK counterpart, informing ROK of its decision to repatriate Kim via Panmunjom on Sept. 11.
