SYDNEY - A man who sparked an Ebola scare in Australia tested negative for the deadly disease, health officials announced on Friday.
The Gold Coast man, who on Thursday morning was complaining about Ebola-like symptoms, had returned a negative result.
The 25-year-old man had recently arrived back in Australia from Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa, hence the public concern.
The health official said it was highly unlikely the Ebola virus disease would make it to Queensland, Australia, but said anyone who had traveled to west African regions affected by the outbreak who were concerned about their health should visit their local doctor.
More than 2,200 people have died in an Ebola outbreak from more than 4,200 infections in the African nations of Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Nigeria.
